In 1950 E.W. Norfleet and C.L. Angle purchased land that is now Anglewood for residential purposes with a total of 130 lots. Lots ranged in size of .30 to .91. of an acre. Homes were built between 1930 and 1988.
Anglewood is located at latitude/longitude 29°39’1” N 82°23’24” W The elevation average is 20 feet.
Anglewood’s main entrance access is at SW 38th Street and West University Avenue.
The Anglewood neighborhood consists primarily of ranch homes and mid-century modern homes. Features of the homes include use of brick, concrete block, flat roofs and courtyards.
Anglewood is located 0.6 miles to Westgate shopping center, 1.3 miles to the University of Florida, 2.0 miles to the Oaks Mall, 2.5 miles to North Florida Regional Medical Center and 4.6 miles to Santa Fe College.
Green Acres Park, Sugarfoot Prairie, Clear Lake Nature Park, and the John Mahon Nature Park, are all within walking distance of Anglewood.
Dr. John Mahon Nature Park is a memorial to one of Anglewood’s first residents. Dr. Mahon worked to preserve the natural areas in and around Gainesville, Florida.
